My Very First Blog Post!

Hi, everyone! I am so excited to be on this new journey and to have you all here with me. After nearly 30 years of working in an office, I decided to take the leap and chase my dreams of being a writer. My plans include this blog, a podcast, and a book. While I'm very excited about this new opportunity, I am also extremely nervous, so please bear with me while I get used to this new "normal" and navigate my new calling. 

Some topics to expect include: living and thriving with depression and anxiety, divorce and navigating life afterwards, being a single parent of teenagers and the unique challenges involved, changing careers midlife, finding love again and chasing your happiness. I'll also be sharing some of my favorite things here; from beauty products to music and everything in between.

Let's start things off with a little background about me. I'm 44 and live outside of Chicago. I have two teenage daughters that are the loves of my life, and also the cause of some headaches. Some of my hobbies include reading and writing, cooking and baking, gardening, walking and lifting weights, spending time with family and friends, listening to music, bingeing popular tv shows, and anything outdoors. 

I spent my career working in Accounting. I have worked for a home builder, a well-known advertising agency and one of the world's largest corporate law firms. I started writing a few years ago as a way to clear my mind. It turned out to be one of my favorite forms of therapy and a really great way to connect with other people. Writing has helped me cope with the pain of losing loved ones and broken hearts as well as helped me to celebrate new beginnings. Through writing, I have learned how to embrace the ups and downs of life.
